CP pallet sizes and specifications
There are nine different CP pallet sizes. The type you choose will depend on factors, including the load you’re transporting and your stacking requirements. PalletOne cuts to the millimeter to meet metric/global standards. Below are standard American measurements (inches) and conversion to metrics. However, it is common in the pallet industry when discussing American measurements that those measurements are rounded up to the nearest whole number. For example, a CP1 pallet is commonly called a 48”x40” pallet). The pallet dimensions and specifications are:
- CP1: 1200 mm x 1000 mm (47.24” x 39.37”)
- CP2: 1200 mm x 800 mm (47.24” x 31.5”)
- CP3: 1140 mm x 1140 mm (44.88” x 44.88”)
- CP4: 1100 mm x 1300 mm (43.3” x 51.18”)
- CP5: 760 mm x 1140 mm (29.92” x 44.88”)
- CP6: 1200 mm x 1000 mm (47.24” x 39.37”)
- CP7: 1300 mm x 1100 mm (47.24” x 51.18”)
- CP8: 1140 mm x 1140 mm (44.88” x 44.88”)
- CP9: 1140 mm x 1140 mm (44.88” x 44.88”)
Chemical pallet types
Each pallet has a different purpose, so it’s beneficial to ensure that you utilize the right type of pallet for each individual project. The types are classified as follows:
- CP1: best for boxes and bags or sacks of raw materials.
- CP2: used to transport canisters, boxes, and fiber drums.
- CP3: ideally suited to transporting bags, barrels, and octabins.
- CP4: designed for sacks of raw materials.
- CP5: made for transporting small boxes and cartons.
- CP6: best for sacks and boxes.
- CP7: used to transport sacks.
- CP8: designed to transport sacks and octabins.
- CP9: ideal for bulk containers and drums.
CP pallet product features
Chemical pallets boast an array of features, which make them suitable for transporting chemicals and materials safely and securely. The features of each type of pallet vary, but all CP pallets are designed to meet safety specifications. The marking on the side of the pallet will tell you which type of pallet you are using. Chemical pallets are a popular option because they are compatible with pallet jacks and forklifts. Features of specific types of chemical pallets include:
- CP1: these skids do not have a bottom deck board and are fitted with runners.
- CP2: these skids have three runners.
- CP3: this is a square skid, which has three runners.
- CP4: this skid has three runners and a wider lead or edge board.
- CP5: this is a smaller skid, which has three runners and no bottom deck board.
- CP6: this pallet has a bottom deck board, which facilitates easy stacking.
- CP7: these pallets have bottom deck boards, which makes stacking effortless.
- CP8: these are square pallets with bottom deck boards, which are characterized by a gap in the center for drainage.
- CP9: these are the same as CP8 pallets without the hole for drainage.

Which industries use chemical pallets?
Chemical Pallets (CP) are used in the plastic and chemical production industries and come in a variety of pallet sizes. They are robust containers, which are used to transport and distribute industrial materials and substances. Chemical pallets are specially formulated to store toxic and caustic chemicals and materials.
They are used most commonly in the plastic, petroleum, and chemical production industries, providing safe methods of transporting, storing, and distributing chemicals. As the substances transported in chemical pallets are hugely versatile, these pallets can be used by a diverse range of businesses, manufacturers, and organizations, which operate within the chemical sector.
With nine different types available, it is likely that there will be an ideal solution for any business or organization looking to ship or transport materials either domestically or internationally. The most commonly used chemical pallets in the US are CP1, CP3, CP7, and CP9. If you are shipping to a different country, stacking is hugely beneficial, so it’s wise to explore chemical pallets that are easy to load, manage and organize.
Chemical pallets that are manufactured according to ISPM 15 specifications meet IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) regulations, which means that these pallets have been heat treated or prepared to ensure that no plant or animal species can be transported alongside the pallet.
